A trial lawyer since 1977 Clarence Barry-Austin has tried more than 250 jury cases to conclusion. His areas of expertise include personal injury matters of all kinds, i.e., auto accidents, slip/trip and fall cases, medical malpractice, products liability; police brutality and other civil rights violations. He has handled these cases both on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. He has handled cases on behalf of insurance companies (i.e., Allstate, Palisades), and New Jersey public entities (i.e., State of New Jersey, County of Essex, City of Orange, City of East Orange and City of Irvington).
Barry-Austin has been granted designation as a certified civil trial attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court. That designation has been provided to less than 5 percent of the attorneys admitted to practice in New Jersey. He has also been awarded the highest rating (AV Preeminent) by Martindale-Hubbell, the nation’s premier legal rating publication. In addition, he has taught litigation practice at Seton Hall Law School and Montclair State University. He is also a qualified mediator pursuant to New Jersey court rules.

Born in Georgetown, Guyana, Barry-Austin is active in Guyanese and Caribbean affairs in the New Jersey/New York area. He is a member of the Caribbean Bar Association and is legal counsel to the Caribbean American Business Association, a New Jersey organization of Caribbean professionals and businesspeople. On the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the independence of the nation of Guyana, he was presented with a proclamation from the city of New York recognizing his accomplishments as a trial attorney, and his contributions to the Guyanese community.
